Metal is our business and we need technologists to look at the metal we produce and develop ways through which we can make it better, stronger and more malleable.
The grades of steel we make are continually developed and improved to meet market demand. Whether they contain titanium or vanadium alloys, high silicon for electrical use or high carbon steels for aerospace use, Corus metallurgists ensure we get the process right. Placement students entering this function will work with our customers, suppliers and representatives of other functions to help develop our products and processes to ensure the metal we produce is consistently of the highest quality. The work is varied, involving plant operation and development, plant process chemistry and metallurgy and quality assurance. Our aim is to give the customer the right material for the job and, in the long term, to ensure that technical innovations maintain our products’ competitive edge.
Corus training is accredited by the IOM3.
