If you’re looking to take a year out in industry as part of your degree, the IBM Industrial Trainee scheme will give you the opportunity to do something really challenging for your year out. It will enable you to gain valuable work experience, develop your commercial and technical skills in a corporate environment and potentially join the IBM graduate scheme when you complete your degree. We’re looking for students who can provide fresh ideas and energy to a company that’s fuelled by innovation.

BUSINESS OPERATIONS
Working in business operations involves providing specific and comprehensive operational support to maximise the functionality and effectiveness of our business.

FINANCE
You’ll be involved in accounting, pricing, financial planning and forecasting, auditing, business controls and analysis and other related activities – all giving you a great opportunity to gain an insight into IBM’s business.

SALES
Working within Sales, you will assist with the planning and execution of our sales activities, supporting the efforts of our field sales teams.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT
You will participate in the design, test, implementation, delivery, integration, and support of IBM’s software products, applications and processes.

PROCUREMENT
You will get involved with procurement, distribution, logistics, fulfilment and other related activities.

You will attend an induction course when you join IBM. This will provide you with the basic knowledge of IBM and its processes to make your transition into a commercial business environment as seamless as possible. You will be able to access the Learning@IBM website. Learning@IBM lets you create a dynamic learning plan, find specific training recommendations based on your job role and business unit, add your own activities and track your progress – all in one learning place.
We look for students from any degree discipline who can demonstrate a passion and enthusiasm for their chosen business area. We are seeking students who are dedicated to their placement, keen to work as part of a team and who will bring new ideas and ways of approaching the complex issues and problems we face every day.
You must be looking for a 12 month placement as part of your degree course or have agreed to do an optional year out with your university tutors. You must be predicted a 2:1 or 1st in your final degree result.
